Faye Burch: U.S. Small Business Administration region and Oregon state Minority Small Business Champion Award Winsner for 2007. In addition,  F.M. Burch and Associates is the Minority Business Opportunity Committee's Professional Service Firm of the Year.
The construction industry in the Northwest wouldn't be the same without Faye Burch. The political science and English major turned construction manager brings skills as a business leader, public policy advisor and community activist to all her projects.
F.M. Burch and associates provides management consulting and technical services in business areas including: project and construction management, construction oversight, public involvement, and general engineering support services. Recent projects include a joint venture partnership in five gift and specialty shops at Portland International Airport and the Beaverton Bakery Cafe with 40 full-time employees. But leading a successful consulting firm is just the beginning for Burch.
"The SBA takes great pride in honoring Faye Burch who is a true champion of small business," said SBA Oregon District Director Harry DeWolf, who will present her awards at the Minority Business Opportunity Committee's 2007 Minority Enterprise Development Week Awards luncheon, Wednesday, Oct. 3. at the Oregon Convention Center. "Her tireless efforts have provided tangible and significant support to small businesses and their communities. She provides the tools, information and support that small business owners need; and most of all, she helps to create an environment in which the spirit of entrepreneurship can flourish."
During the last two years the advisor to former Gov. Barbara Roberts has worked to reactivate an Oregon Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMCO). With about 40 active members, the chapter is now involved in all phases of contracting is providing advocacy, training and development for Minority Contractors. Burch served two terms as a presidential appointee to the National Small Business Advisory Board and was recently elected to the National Association of Minority Contractors' national board of directors.
