The organization’s commitment to provide access to resources such as education, career opportunities, entrepreneurship, civic engagement, and other services was highlighted at the event hosted by Antionette Edwards. Edwards has spent her life working for equality, human dignity, and social justice. The former director of Portland’s Office of Youth Violence Prevention, Edwards also ran the city’s Street Level Gang Outreach Program.
The crowd of approximately 300 people recognized the accomplishments of former Governor Kate Brown, and her work toward granting full pardons to Black Oregonians who, after release from prison, made transformative changes in their lives. Samuel Desue, general manager of TriMet presented Brown with a special award for her service to Oregon.
