Women's History Month is in March, and the city is inviting Portland women to share their stories.

Mayor Tom Potter and the city's bureaus of Planning, Cable&Franchise Management, Water and Management & Finance are collecting stories about women's lives in Portland's workplaces. The stories will appear in a diversity blog, which will run throughout March.

Women who have a story about their non-traditional careers, how they juggle work and family obligations, or what they envision for women entering the workplace in the future are invited to submit blogs.

One Portland woman already has posted a blog invitation to inspire more entries. All other stories will begin to be posted on the blog on March 1.

Write a story of no more than 250 words about your experiences or those of a Portland woman you admire. Write about your mother, sisters and grandmothers. Write about a famous Portland woman — or the not-so-famous. Contribute an electronic photo if you want to. Stories submitted before March 31 will be preserved in the city's archives as part of the ongoing history of women in Portland.

The city will post stories at www.portlandonline.com/diversity. Visit the Web site for more information, to submit your blog and to read the invitation to blog that's posted there now. Both text and digital images will be accepted under the following guidelines:

• Entries are limited to 250 words.

• The city will post blogs that meet community standards for respect and courtesy.

• All entries must be submitted before March 31.

• Every blog will include your name and may include a very short description of you that you write. This can be whimsical — or you have the opportunity to add your workplace affiliation if you want to.

• Digital photos are not required for blog posting.

• You must "sign in" to the Web site to submit a blog (instructions are available on the Web site).
