The American Red Cross Presents Free "CPR Saturday"

The American Red Cross Serving King & Kitsap Counties will present the 9th annual CPR Saturday event on Feb. 28, in honor of Renton Heart Month which will be hosted by Renton Technical College.
"This event is open to everyone so we encourage residents from around the county to come get trained in CPR," said Dotty Klyce, director of Health Services. "CPR can mean the difference between life and death in emergency situations and this is a great opportunity to either learn or refresh your skills." 
Registration began Jan. 16. CPR Saturday students will be trained and tested in Adult CPR free of charge. The training takes about 2.5 hours and will include skills practice and a written exam. Upon successful completion, students will be given Red Cross certificates.
The event provides a tremendous opportunity to enhance emergency preparedness at both the individual and community levels. It is estimated that 500 individuals will come together during "CPR Saturday" to learn lifesaving CPR skills and receive American Red Cross Adult CPR certification. 
The class is free of charge thanks to the Red Cross volunteers who make this event possible with their generous donation of time and skills. The Renton Technical College has donated the training space.
Classes at Renton Technical College begin at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.  Spanish and ASL class start times are different. Participants must pre-register for CPR Saturday by visiting www.seattleredcross.org or call the Red Cross in Seattle at (206) 726-3534.
